Start Six to Eight Weeks Out
Moving in involves more admin than most people expect — utilities, insurance, and a long list of organisations that need your new address. Ideally, this planning starts six to eight weeks before moving day, since most utility providers need five to ten working days to switch accounts and book technicians.
NZ Post's free change-of-details service can notify a wide range of organisations on your behalf once you verify your identity, and mail redirection is available for a fee if you want extra peace of mind during the transition.
